what to do in Ireland?
Fri, 04/08/2005 - 14:14
We will be spending 4 or 5 nights in Ireland and have no idea what to do. We want to go to a bar or a club a couple nights but other than that we are up for anything. Do you have any recomendations on what to do or on how to get from France to Ireland. We are getting Euro rail passes and they provide a 50% savings on the ferry that runs from Cherbourg France to Rosslare Ireland. Is that a good way to go?

Pub, pubs, and more pubs. There’s your answer. And be sure to hit a chipper afterwards.
Dublin – tons to do and see. Pubs, as clunker mentioned. The tourists mainly hang out along Temple Bar, but that’s ok cause it’s lots of fun there. Check out Gogarty’s Pub for a great atmosphere and live ‘trad’ music. There’s the Guinness Museum (more drinking), the Christchurch Cathedral, the grounds of Trinity College and the library there, Kilmainham jail, lots of James Joyce stuff, etcetera.
Just out of curiosity, is there any reason you are going to a country without having an idea of what to do or see there?
We took the ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg and it was good times.
Here are a couple of day trips out of Dublin.(Glendalough is especially atmospheric):
