we fly out on the 3rd and land in Zurich the 4th

4th and 5th in Interlaken or some town in the Alps closer to Italy
6th Milan
7th and 8th Florence
9th,10th and the day of the 11th in Rome overnight train from Rome to Venice that night
12th Venice
13th Zurich
14th fly home

what do you think?

Definitely check out Interlaken..it’s amazing! I would skip Milan as it’s one of the least impressive citiies in Italy (too much "big city" less culture and uniqueness) and spend an extra day in either Venice or Interlaken. We took the train up from Florence to Milan, but ended up ditching our day in Milan and heading straight up to Interlaken. We were incredibly glad that we did. Sounds like quite a bit for 10 days, but it can be done, and you’ll have a great time! Smile

the stop in Milan is for one reason and one reason only

to catch a soccer match

Ya I would try to find a match in Rome or Florence if youc could. Milan is boring in my opinion. Spend that extra day in Interlaken or Venice

Lucky! Sounds like a great trip; the timing looks pretty good, though I tend to agree with the others about skipping out on Milan on the 10-day trip if possible. Otherwise, 2 days in Florence, 1 in Venice and 3 in Rome sound about right for a ‘taste of Italy’. Have fun!

i think we might go there instead of Interlaken

I meant days spent in each city.

The weather won’t be great, but it will be pleasant.

That actually looks like a pretty darn good itinerary. The only thing I would add is driving through the Alps by Mont Blanc – the tunnel through the mountains is around 9 miles (I think) and there are great views worthy of a postcard on either end.

What made you ask about Bettmeralp, unless things have livened up over the last few years, the main attraction is the Aletsch Glacier, which is the longest glacier in Europe, whereas Interlaken has so much more activities. But I did like both

It won’t really be summer time in early March when he goes. But Interlaken is amazing anytime of the year. I went at the end of March and the weather was actually really nice. There is so much to do and the scenery is amazing. When you can go hiking and look out over the Alps and two crystal blue lakes, you’ll think it’s special too.

well Bettmeralp is thrown out now

we might now throw out going to Interlaken or some other ski place 1st and get on a train to Italy as soon as we land and go to Florence and move everything up on the "schedule" and then go to Neustiff in Austria 2 days before we go back to Zurich and ski there

planning a trip to Europe at the end of April. have a flight on April 30 from Brussels to Florence, Italy; stay 1 night and travel by train to Rome for 1 night;
fly from Rome to either Milan or Geneva- stay from May 2 in the morning to May 5 and leave from Salzburg back to Brussels. My problem is how do I see some of Switzerland, preferably Interlaken and then on to Salzburg? Can I do this in 4 days? Any suggestions on whether to go to Milan or Geneva? Milan looks closer to Interlaken than Geneva, but I am not sure. Must fly out of Salzburg on May 5. What would be the best way to get to Salzburg and any suggestions of things to see on the way? Is this too much in the time frame? Thanks for any suggestions.
