What should I wear in Rome and Paris
Tue, 03/29/2005 - 17:19
What should I wear in Rome and Paris when traveling there for 2 weeks in May. Are dress pants preferred over kahkis or jeans?

When in Rome, do as the Romans do…
What this might me is dressing in nationalistic costumes. You see, in Italy, it’s quite common to dress in the costume native to a given area. In Rome (Lazio) there is a specific costume for this. So you might want to do some research into this, if of course you desire to fit in.
I think you will find the Romans to be an amiable, yet warlike people. Never turn your back on a drunk Roman who may have malice towards you!!!
Is this your first time in the country of Italy?
i guess it would depend on the purpose of you going to rome and paris
if you’re there for a serious business meeting then yes, dress pants would be preferable than jeans….
for other occasions, i would think a full suit, especially if you plan on climbing the eiffel tower and walking around the cities
Go on wear what makes you comfortable!
In Paris, wear a striped shirt and a beret. You may want to grow a cheesey moustache as well.
A toga of course!
nothing.
it’s the best way to ensure an exciting time.
I noticed a lot of women in Europe wear plain clothes, usually black, but with heaps of accessories to make it look completely styled. simple but stylish.
Now, seriously, wear whatever you feel good in. From my experience Paris is pretty windy (+ rainy +cold), so take a cap/ a hat / something.

The only thing you need to worry about in Rome is showing to much skin that is if you are visiting church. They don’t want shoulders showing or to short of shorts/skirts.
Just make sure you wear what you are comfortable walking a lot in. I wore a lot of capri pants and light blouses. I highly reccomend getting some comfortable shoes. I got some great Clarks that were a godsend!! Good luck and have fun!
