whats best to pack????
Tue, 12/07/2004 - 17:56
What would be best to pack for a backpacking trip from the middle of march till the middle of may?
as little as possible.
thats not very helpful
First and foremost do you have a proper fitting pack?if no imo forget about this for now and concentrate on that as this will dictate what you can and cant bring etc. Also where do you intend on going? climate at the time of year are also important.
i do not have a pack yet. I plan on going to ireland, england, spain, maby portugal, germany, austria, czech, switz., italy, greece, france, amsterdamn, maby hungary
it’s all about layers.
jacket that is waterproof, breaks the wind.
a fleece
couple long sleeve shirts
hat, mits.
after that, whatever.
Layers.
I usually bring a t shirt or two, but if it’s your first trip, you’ll probably end up buying a couple.
And remember, if you forget something, you can buy it there. If you don’t have zip-off leg pants and it suddenly get steamy in May, you can buy a pair of shorts.
very helpful thank you
Have you tried searching this forum? Have you checked out the home page of this site? There are plenty of answers to this question already out there.

large roll of mole skins
3 pairs of socks
7 pairs of underwear (you can never have enough clean undies)
3 shirts (vaporwick)
2 pairs of pants
1 pair of shorts (skip if pants are convertible style)
1 pair of comfy shoes with good support (w/ several miles walked in before trip)

Everything else can be purchased at grocery stores/department stores along the way…
