Are you think of going to the Greek islands in April, to Switzerland in November or England in April? It’s worth researching the places first.
The Greek islands are really alive in July and the first 3 weeks of August, they are hot and busy from June to September, and some islands welcome tourists in May and October. The ferries run high season in July and August, mid season about the end of May to June and September, and October in some parts. Outside of these times the islands close the tourist facilities, they operate just a few places for locals, the ferries drop to the winter schedules, and often stop for days in the storms. The weather is cold and wet often.
Switzerland closes down in October and November in general. It’s wet and windy, neither summer nor ski season. A few places stay open for the tourists and the mountain rescue stay active to take down the hardy walkers who are not dressed for blizzards.
England in April is wet. We call it ‘April showers’. Actually it’s my favourite time, the start of spring, but very variable weather.
If you have a fixed time to travel then it’s worthwhile thinking of where to go, taking weather and local seasons into account. Don’t set your heart on Greek Islands in March, Ibiza in February, skiing in Garmisch in November, Gimmelwald in April or Paris in the springtime.
