When to travel?
Thu, 11/30/2006 - 14:00
We’re 4 guys, trying to figure out when to plan our inter-railing trip around Europe. We plan to go for 4 weeks, mostly to western Europe. Right now France, Spain, Italy, Czech Rep, and Holland are the main countries we hope to get to. The biggest problem we’ve had in planning the trip is when we should travel. The debate is between June and July. The argument for June is that it is simply more convenient to go right after we graduate highschool. But, we don’t know how many people will be traveling at that time. We’re very interested in meeting new people, and don’t want to find that everyone that would be potentially traveling, will be in school because European schools usually don’t get out until July. Is this true? Also, are there still quite a few people staying in hostels, going to bars and traveling like us even if locals still have school?
From my hostel experiences, the majority of roomates i’ve had are NOT European. I’d go in June, to avoid the heat and the crowds. It’s Euope in the summer, so there will always be lots of people around all the time anyway.
I find the Springtime best to travel, prices are lower + less tourists. Also, that’s the time when me superfly linebeard looks crisp, be safe habibni
June is fine. 1/50th less tourist traffic just means more availability at hostels, not fewer people out at bars.
