I’ve got a couple friends that are gonna meet up with me in Florence in a few weeks, but I leave in two days so we’re trying to set up a meeting place now. I’ll only get to Florence the day before them and I don’t know where I’ll be staying, so meeting them at the hostel is pretty much out. Any suggestions for places to meet? They are not very big travelers so I’d like somewhere easy for them to find, yet still not overrun with crowds that I won’t be able to find them. What to do…..

Presumably they’ll be coming by train. You could meet at the front entrance of the Santa Maria Novella church, which is very close by. Or you could look up the location for McDonald’s (it’s also close to the train station) and meet there.

Thanks Traveler, but actively searching out a McDonalds is probably the last way I want to spend a day in Florence.

Actually it seems that Florence won’t be were I’ll meet them after all. I leave tomorrow and they want to make things difficult for me by changing their plans around a bit now.

Mcdonalds is literally across the street from the station…it would hardly take a day to find it…more like 1 minute.

how about in front of the Uffizi Gallery or Accademia Gallery? I would imagine that you and your friends are planning on visiting these places already, so why not just meet there and kill two birds with one stone. Both places have coat check to store your pack.

Perhaps you could try somewhere specific like a trattoria or cafe.
Your friends could just hail a cab to an address whilst you could wait for them enjoying a coffee, a beer or a glass of wine.

I’d recommend –
Trattoria Mario
Via Rosina, 2R
in the Piazza Mercato Centrale
