Hey all,

For those of you who have been fortunate enough to party on the Island of Ibiza…where did you go? I will be visiting the island towards the end of june 2007. We’re flying from Barcelona so I know the air port is closer to Ibiza Town that San Antonio. From my research, these seem like the major party areas. Which one is better for clubs and which city has nicer beaches?

Also, I’ll be heading over to Mykonos around mid-july….where should I stay if I want to experience the ultimate Mykonos paryting that everyone raves about?

And…Ios or Mykonos? Which is better?

Any feedback at all would be appreciated!

Thx
Val

I went to Ibiza a few years ago and I’m going back this summer.  When I went I found Ibiza town to be a great place to be for pre-drinks before the actual clubs open.  They have all sorts of people walking around promoting the different clubs and the atmosphere is happy and fun.  Playa Den Bossa, in my opinion, was the best beach spot, although when the sun is setting there is no better place to be than Cafe Del Mar on the other side of the island.  I went to San Antonio once while I was there but got a feeling that it was more for the drunken frat boy types.  It was still enjoyable, but a different vibe than the Ibiza town area.  As for clubs, Privilege was an amazing site to see based solely on its size.  Pacha had a more upper class feel.  My two favourites were Amnesia and Space…..something has to be said for a club that opens at 8am and doesn’t close until 6am (22 hour party).  I didn’t get a chance to check out Eden, but Es Paradis did have a beautiful interior.  We decided to stay in Playa Den Bossa this time. It’s close to the airport, walking/stumbling distance to Space and Bora Bora is just down the beach.  Plus, if we wanted to head into Ibiza Town it’s only a 45 minute walk or 10 minute cab/disco bus.

Hope this helps…..

P.S.  Don’t forget about the daytime beach parties at Bora Bora

[=”#000000”]Have never been to Mykonos, though I hope to remedy that someday.
Anyway, Ios around mid-summer (June 21st) was insane some years back.
Plenty of partying and carrying on. Lots of people from Nordic countries singing their favorite drinking songs.
July is probably lively enough.
However, the clubs on Ios were not nearly as sophisticated as you might find in Spain. Again, can’t speak for Mykonos.

Hey!

Thanks for the reply…very useful info. I was wondering what the difference was in the party atmosphere of San Antonio and Ibiza Town and from your description, I much rather prefer something a bit more sophisticated…so Ibiza Town it is. I just want to clarify a few things though. The clubs that you mentioned, Space, El Divino, Pacha, Amenisa they are in the Playa Den Bossa area right? Are there any good clubs located in the actual town or all they all along this beach area? Since we’re only Ibiza for a couple of days, I guess the best place would be to stay in the beach town? Also, where is Cafe Del Mar? In the town or on the beach? And if there are some clubs that aren’t close to Playa Den Bossa, then we can take this infamous disco bus?

Sorry about all the repetitive questions…just want to make sure I understand.

Thank you so much for the help!

Space is in Playa Den Bossa (right by the airport).  Pacha and El Divino are in Ibiza Town which is a 5  minute cab ride from Playa Den Bossa.  Privilege and Amnesia are half way between Ibiza Town and San Antonio, about a 15 minute drive.  Es Paradis and Eden are in San Antonio.  Bora Bora is right in Playa Den Bossa by Space.  Cafe Del Mar is on the San Antonio side of the island.  Check out www.ibiza-spotlight….

That website has all you’ll need to know.

If bars and nightclubs are your thing, then by all means go to Mykonos. Frolic in the sandy beaches in the daytime and dance the night away with the best DJs in Europe. Foreigners would love the atmosphere, it’s so unrestricted. But if you’re the other type of tourist and you like to go where the Greeks go. There’s only one place: Ikaria. If you want to see Old World Greece that takes your breath away, look nowhere else.

Are there any other ways of getting to Ibiza then flying? Is it possible to take a ferry or something from one of the other major cities in spain near Ibiza?

Balearia runs a ferry between Ibizia and a bunch of cities. I took it a few years ago and it was something like 45 euros (one way) from Valencia…it takes about ten hours.

This is an old thread, so rather than respond to the original poster, I will add two cents to the trail for future readers.

Mykonos. If you want a more international feel, then Mykonos. Ios has more of the American/Canadian frat feel, and the bars there reflect this.

Fretting over details. The island _does _have modern means of transport, and is fairly small.

Mykonos is very sophisticated. To compare with the US: Mykonos is South Beach, while Ios is Daytona Beach.
