Which Airline
Wed, 04/12/2006 - 16:29
I’m planning a trip to Rome from Toronto this summer, leaving last week of july/1st week of August for 2 weeks. Costs seem to be around $1,500-$1,700. Don’t think I’m going to get any cheaper at this point. Options are Alitilia, Air Canada and Skyservise (all direct) with Skeyservice being cheaper by $200. If you had your choice which airline would you fly?

Do you have to fly there direct from Toronto? If you don’t have to then don’t. Try checking prices for London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, as they tend to be the cheapest destinations to fly into. Then see if you can can a cheap flight from one of those places to Rome. You’ll probably save hundreds of $$$$.
No, don’t have to fly direct but with only two weeks wanted to limit travel time as much as possilbe. I’ll check costs on your suggestion.
Thanks
PS, If I do go direct has anyone flown Alitilia? I’ve flown on both Air Canada (which I generaly hate) and Skyservice (great fligh crew) but cramped seats, only flew it on short flights.
Some people have reported terrible service with Alitalia, and there’s always the threat of strikes. But if you have a good fare, I’d go for it. Also take a look at http://www.selloffai… and Alba Tours (forgot the URL).
Thanks, I’ve decided that I’m crazy to go in August (cost) so have decided to change to Mid Sept. Fare for Skyservis is $1164, a lot cheaper. Any thoughts on if I should jump on this or wait awhile?
