Definitely take a canal tour…you’re get a whole different perspective on the city. You can take one of the modern covered boats or try this place: http://www.amsterdam…

Sea Palace Restaurant: Huge three story floating restaurant in Amstredam’s harbour. They do chinese food but also have an Indonesian Rice Table (sort of like a buffet). Indonesia was a former dutch colony so you’ll find lots of them throughout the City. Sea Palace is a bit touristy but very nice setting and good indonesian food.

Go to a brown cafe for a relaxing beer or coffee.

Go on a bike tour

Take the “New Amsterdam Red Light District Exposed” free tour offered by NewEurope (the guys in the red shirts). It was a very insightful tour offering the history and other interesting facts abouth the district.

Finnegan there is actually a free canal tour done by St Nicolaas Boat Club (http://www.amsterdam…). They use tiny little boats, you can byo beer/wine/spirits and go around the canal in the late arvo sun. Sounds great to me.

Bike tours are fun – but I had much more fun just hiring a bike about 7-10 euros a day and just exploring the city.

Not Sure about how many Indians are in Amsterdam, but I saw a fair few Indian and Asian places to eat. Travelon I would try some dutch pancakes or even a falafel as these seem to be big over there.

I’d spend a day in Haarlem, which is compact but very interesting. One of the best organs in the world is in St. Bevo’s, and they play it some afternoons; check the schedule. Also, the Corrie ten Boom Museum, far less commercial than the Anne Frank house.

If you are interested in art, a day trip to the Hague would be well worth it.

The Netherlands also has a good pass that covers many of the museums and will save you money if you are into that.

That depends on you. Some people like modern art; some don’t.

In Amsterdam, http://www.rijksmuse… is renowned. Right next door is http://www3.vangoghm…, no less interesting, and sort of next door is http://www.stedelijk…. the modern art museum (it was closed for extensive rebuilding last year when we were there and their collection was in an office building on the waterfront; alas, most of their best pieces were not on display because the climate control in the office building was not up to standards). Those are just the big three in Amsterdam; there are many more. We wanted to see the Hermitage when we were there, but it too was closed for extensive rebuilding.

In the Hague, http://www.mauritshu… is world-class. My wife liked http://www.escherinh… , and we both were surprised at how good http://www.gemeentem… was.

That is just the surface. try looking at http://www.amsterdam… for information on the card and the museums.
