So, I am going to England for a short trip (7 days) this summer.
I would like to make a day trip from London to one among the following three castles:

Arundel Castle
Bodiam Castle
Warwick Castle

I would be grateful if you can please suggest which one among these is the most worthwhile to visit.

havent been to any of those three
but id recommend leeds castle…gee its pretty
easy trip from london..by train or by organised coach tour ( try evan evans down at victoria station ..get there by 9 am and u can choose what tour to do ..this one was 57 pounds)
u can do canterbury cathedral the same day and a brief visit to the cliffs of dover…they had a wonderful wonderful afternoon tea at a cosy place called the jackdaw on the way back to london all included in the price
i did another day trip from london ( golden tours) of windsor castle bath and stonehenge…thats very different from leeds

leeds is very feminine…lake and swans and gorgeous girly rooms..built for women and owned by women…windsor is more austere and way way bigger

anyway…one or two castles oughta satisfy anyones appetite for the ornate and over the top..u get sick of them

they say the chateaux in france are really something tho

happy castling whatever u choose

My wife & I visited Warwick Castle & thought it was amazing. Some great photo opportunities. I can’t comment on the others. Good luck!

You could also try Windsor Castle, which is just under an hour by train from London, and you can do this without having to go on an expensive tour check out

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! They were really helpful. I think I would go to the Windsor castle because of its proximity to London.

If you get the train, make sure you go after 9.30am and get a cheap day return ticket

What about Windsor castle?
Hampton Court Palace (while not a castle) is definetly worth a trip. It’s Henry VIII’s old pad. The grounds are really beautiful, and it has a hedge maze, and the oldest Tennis Court still in use (Prince Andrew still plays there). And its only a half hour outside of London.

Nonrelated but thought I’d ask a curiousty question.

A few years ago I was looking into places to stay in England and I found a tower sort of building that was called a castle. It look somewhat like the place where Duncan McCloud (of the clan McCloud) lived in The Highlander.

Does this strike a thought with anyone?

Thanks,
