which country?
Mon, 03/07/2005 - 08:39
me and 2 friends have 17 days in Europe during august. its our first time and we have amsterdam for sure so far. one of us wants to atleast go to hiedelberg (sorry about spelling) to see where his parents met and maybe somewhere else in germany. being that we can all split up if we want too, does anyone have any advice on which country would be best suited for a 7 to 10 day backpacking trip (possibly alone) or should i just mix it up a little.
my top 3 choices would be spain, germany, and italy. please let me know anything you have to say.

Please see this thread http://www.eurotrip.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=103305for some help with your quandry
yea sorry for not explaining, i have a lot goin on right now. anyways we are all college students so party spots are on our minds. however i also love history so thats also something im thinking about.
with spain, it just seems like its more of a party place and i would want to stay longer than 7 days.
italy seems very interesting but im not so sure about the nightlife in some of the cities.
germany sounds like it has a good mixture of both, but i just can’t see myself goin 7-10 days in germany and not wishing i had atleast gone to rome.
with amsterdam and paris and probably the swiss alps taking up about the first 8 days, i am trying to decide on which country i would get the most out of for the remaining 8-10 days.
anyways advice on which of these countries is best suited for a week and a half long journey through would be appreciated. i will set my departure city from where ever i end up.
If you’re into parties and beaches, just go to Spain the remainder of the time. i guess italy would be nice since you like history, but honestly it’s going to be brutally hot and dry in august, and wandering around the Roman Forum and Coliseum is going to be life-sucking, especially with all the other tourists.
do yourself a favor and go to spain….there is history there too but also more fun, better beaches, better parties, lots of siestas.
4 days in barcelona, 3 in madrid, 2 in ibiza.
thanks for the feedback. i really want to go to spain, the problem is going to be trying to convince the other 2 to atleast fly out of there with me. does anyone know how much 2 days in ibiza will cost me as compared to somewhere else?
if you just want to party in spain, go to either salou or lloret de mar. thats where all the european younger-people-on-vacation-without-their-parents go.
Well of course partying is going to be more expensive than sight-seeing! Ibiza is pretty expensive as far as places in Spain go. Kleine has good advice. Why would you have to "convince" your friends to go to Spain if they like partying? Don’t get it. Make sure you check out easyjet and ryanair bc they are your cheapest ways to get from northern Europe to Spain.
