Which Greek Island- Oh so many?
Thu, 08/05/2004 - 13:22
Hi guys,
Do the Cyclades Islands have the bluest and clearest beaches? Can anyone recommend the best islands to visit if I’m traveling from Crete? And also which island is more suited for a 25-30’s year old scene? 18-23 is a little too young for me. Thanks for your feedback!

Overall as a country, Greece is given 1st place every year by the EU for having the cleanest overall coastline.
The waters are blue everywhere, but whether or not the water is clear is something that
though my experiencetends to vary from one beach to the next and not from one entire island to the next. The differences between entire islands is in their landscape and not in their waters. The differences between beaches depends on the beach, not the island. There are various factors such as the beach’s location (bay? open waters? near a town? secluded?), depth (steep decline in seafloor? or shallow?), color of the sand beneath the water, amount of underwater life (lots of seaweed? none? medium?), etc.Another question with a relative answer! For the most part, 18-24s and 25-30s all tend to mingle together. Especially the locals and European tourists. But North Americans as well. Although it says in Lonely Planet that Ios is more for the under-25 group. Never been there to confirm that. I have never came across a situation where it was either/or. There is more separation of nationalities (Europeans, North Americans, Australians, etc), then a separation of ages (for ages under 30).
