will it be bad being young??
Mon, 02/06/2006 - 21:48
hey i am going to europe in june and was wondering if being 17 while my 4 friends will be 18 is going to "hold me back" will i not be let into bars? will i not be able to drink hwile they do? how strict or serious about the drinking ages? if anyone has any opinions or answers that would be great…THANKS!!!

oh and i just thought about amsterdam… does anyone know about the ages there??
Just do what youngsters in the UK do.
If they ID you at the door, all go to another place.
If they ID you at the bar, get someone else to buy your drinks.
To be honest mate, you’ll probably be fine. Though IDing has been on the rise in the UK recently, I doubt you’ll get much trouble on the continent.
Just blend in and try not to look guilty.
yo thanks gazzy
most places don’t care (esp for drinking). ams may be a bit more strict as they get a lot of tourists, but like GazzyG says, just act natural.
I would agree. However it is amazing how much more id’ing you see these days!

London, Leeds, Manchester
Just try to blend in and look confident. Make sure you don’t give them an excuse to check your age. If your mates all have ID and you get checked just say you’ve left yours in the safety deposit box !!
If you get turned away, go somewhere else.
I don’t think it will be an issue.
Just get a fake american ID, you think they can tell the difference in Europe? Not likely.
the drinking age in most continental european countries is 16 so you should be fine. thee are some clubs that are 18+ only
Youll be more than fine in amsterdam. Some of the places say that you have to be 18 to enter, just dont go in those. Im 18, only been ID once, because the bartender wanted to know where im from. Ive seen 14 year olds hanging out in the clubs. If you act nervous, youll get ID
