Winter weather in Iberia
Sat, 09/11/2004 - 02:57
I will be visiting Spain/Portugal from mid-December until mid-January, possibly making a trip to Paris as well. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what the weather will be like in Spain and Portugal, especially on the coasts, at that time. Would it be worth it to visit some of the coastal towns in winter or should I spend most of my time elsewhere?

Obviously nobody is going to guarantee anything about weather but your best chance must be Andalucia. I should always prefer the interior here but you certainly must be a hardy animal if you are even thinking of swimming in the sea at that time. Mail me if you would like my notes on Andalucia.

It really depends on winters…
Sometimes you get 15ºC in Lisbon in December ans some sunny days, but you can also have loasd of rain or 6ºC…
The coastal area is surely warmer, though it can be rainy too.
Try to visit larger cities whre Christmas has some traditions or some typical fests in minor villages, staying at Inns and learning some traditions from locals.
Any info, I’m Portuguese but also lived in Spain.
