When I was in Australia and New Zealand working "for your keep"/"farm stays" were all the rage – i.e. "come stay on our farm, help out and we’ll give you board and keep".

Haven’t seen similar postings on message boards for Ireland etc. but figured I’d post here and see if there is interest out there. My parents/brother run a Dairy Farm in the Irish midlands (60+ miles from Dublin). My mother & father are 60 & 70 respectively so have slowed down a bit. My brother is good fun, in his early 30’s and married.

I’m guessing that there would be people out there who would be interested in experiencing life on an Irish Farm & who would be of some assistance in easing the burden on my parents. The types of things you might be able to do to help out would be to assist my brother milking cows, help feed & bed calves, help mum in house a little and miscellaneous tasks as they come up. I just think an extra body around the place would give them some relief, would give them a bit of a laugh and be a great experience for someone wantign to experience life on an Irish farm.

Short stays would be fine, my Ma is a good cook & doesn’t like to see anyone starve! There might be a few cans of beer around too

So if you’re in Ireland and would like to give this a try, respond to this and we’ll see if we can work something out.

Wow, I think it would be a great experience, I was looking for something like that in Italy, but what the hell, besides, I’ll end my trip on the UK, and I am pretty sure, I won’t have much money left.

I’m not 100% sure on the dates, but I want to believe I’ll be somewhere in the UK (haven’t figured out the dates or places on that part of the trip yet) somewhere around the beginings of August leaving on the 17 from London.

Drop me an email, I’m 27, a girl (or so they say), mexican (if that is important) traveling by myself and my email is mad_twinkie@yahoo.com

To whom it may Concern,

I am looking for work all over Europe, I’ve never been to Europe before and I am very excited about my unplanned trip. I’m hoping to find work everywhere I go, b/c I have limited funding. I’m not planning on going until 2006. I’d like to stay in each place for a good while, but not too long. I worked on the work crew for Philmont Staff, which is the most physically demanding job on the high adventure scout ranch in New Mexico, USA. I’m as strong as an Ox even though I don’t look it. I would be most helpful on a farm. Please reply if you know of any openings or if you have any advice.

Thank You
Scout
