working in hungary
Wed, 04/29/2009 - 00:01
i’ve been recently thinking about teaching english as a foreign language in budapest, through STA travel, but wanted to know what budapest is like, any tips on hungary and if teaching english as a foreign language is a good idea?
thanks
I just got a job teaching english in budapest through CETP. I was in Budapest last summer and it was an amazing time. The city is about 2-3 million strong but still has a quaint feel in places. its eclectic while maintaining a traditional feel. the buda side is more historical, so if you stay on the pest side your more likely to be able to shop eat and party more accessibly. If you are looking for opportunities to teach. The Central European Teaching Program (CETP) still has room 5-10 schools with positions to fill. for 2500$ They will get you your work visa, a job, and take care of your apartment for a year. (free apt). If you already have a job with STA, then awesome, I hope i get to see you there in the Pesht. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

i have one question, do you need any previous teaching requirements before you sit the course?
you need 20 hrs as an esl tutor which you can do volunteering. an tefl certificate is necessary as well
