Would like some help with fare to London...

Hi guys,

I’m trying to get to London (from NYC) and I have flexible dates (basically late August – early September). Obviously, the sooner the better…

I’m trying to find a fare for under $300. Should I wait until mid or end of summer to purchase something — do you think the rates will go down?

I found some fares on Travelocity for around $250 with Kuwait Air and US Airways, but the links were unavailable when I clicked on the actual prices and tried to pick dates.

Would love advice from the pro’s out there…

I don’t think $300 is a reasonable price expectation for your dates.

Are you planning on a one way ticket or round trip? If its roundtrip, I don’t think that you are going to have any luck finding anything for $300.

How long do you want to stay? Do you qualify for student or under-26 tickets?

Guessing a month and non-student, I found $390 total on Sidestep. This with Air Canada from Laguardia via Ottawa\Montreal. I used Sep5\Sep28.

Thanks for the help! I am a full-time student (22) and have an ISIC membership. I’ll be staying in London until December, but can come back anytime, really. I have to return to the states every 1 1/2 months anyway, so I can come back earlier if the fare is cheaper.

I would prefer a one-way or open-ended ticket, but I found those to be much more expensive than round-trip.

I’ll check with Sidestep for the rate you suggested.

Reason I asked about student or youth status is that you qualify for student rates—as you are probably aware with an ISIC card—from agencies such as www.statravel.com and www.studentuniverse…. You can also check one-way fares there.

For one-ways from USA, also check consolidators like www.flights.com www.discountflights…. www.onetravel.com www.economytravel.co… and www.justfares.com

With a student visa, you should have no troubles using one-way tickets.
