Zagat
Wed, 06/15/2005 - 18:03
sorry, i posted this on the wrong section, so i’m posting it again here
I’m looking at Zagat’s "Europe’s Top Restaurants" and wondering if these restaurants are any good. Obviously, people liked them, but are these restaurants the "authentic" ones or the "touristy" ones? I was wondering if any of you have tried the restaurants from the Zagat surveys and which one them you liked? I’m going to be in London, Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Athens, among other places in southern Italy and Naxos/Paros islands in Greece.

I think that the Zagat Guide that I’ve used in Paris was dead-on. I like to go to restaurants, and also use the Michelin Guide and Gaut-Millau.
The Zagat Guide depends on reviews from customers, while the other guides I’d mentioned depend on professional reviewers who, in the case of the Michelin Guide, are supposed to make anonymous visits.
Very often all 3 guides have similar opinions—- but not always!
