Ok. For Switzerland, you really should experience the mountain beauty of the area around Gimmelwald. Zurich, is a city. A nice neat place, but not the true switzerland: that of the mountains! I would get to Gimmelwald over Zurich. Or try to add more days to Switzerland and Austria in general. Zurich only needs 1 full day basically. Salzburg is well liked in the area. I noticed you mentioned visiting Provence! I highly recommend you do so! Arles, Nimes, Aix en Provence, Avignon. All great places to visit. If you want more local. try Bormes les Mimosas. We go there every summer and love it (family). You could take out Bordeaux, and a few days here and there, and do 2 nights in Provence (one of the above places) and then 2 nights in Cinque Terre on your way to Florence and then Rome. I think you would really enjoy this!
As for flights, i think you asked?
On your original itinerary, I would fly from Paris to Madrid (unless you night train), Barcelona to ROme Definitely, Copenhagen to Stockholm maybe because the train is relatively long and verrrry expensive. if you can find a deal on this route, it’ll be for the better!
It’s funny you mention Gimmelwald, i was looking into it the day before i created this thread and am definately contemplating replacing Zurich with it. The majority of my trip will be spent in large cities, excluding Provence, so i think i would appreciate the opportunity to see the mountains.
As for the information on flights and provence, that’s much appreciated! Gives me somewhere to start as i know very little about Provence…
