Are there any places that I should ditch for another? Should I shorten my time anywhere? I’m very upset that I can only be backpacking for 2 weeks! Keep in mind that I’ll be staying in Pescara for about a month before this trip, so I plan on going to Naples on a weekend and possibly Milan on another one. I also thought about Sicily for a weekend trip. Thoughts about that would be nice too!
Neither Naples or Milan are really worthwhile…though Naples for an afternoon could be a nice trip (the Archeological Museum is really cool, and the pizza is excellent). I can’t see any places to cut…though I would make Rome three days and Florence 2. Rome has too much to see for only 2 days.
Haven’t been to Sicily yet but I want to so badly!
I’m kind of whatever about Milan, so maybe I’ll fly to Sicily for a weekend instead. Do you think we should cut Venice to one day? Thanks for your feedback.
Venice can be done in a day, if you are crammed for time. Absolutely spend at least one night there- it is a completely different experience at night. I would want at minimum 2 days/nights in Venice, but I really loved Venice and enjoyed the time to explore a place at a slow pace. Also, be sure to do research on restaurants and hotels- there are deals to be found in Venice if you take the time. I didn’t find it overly expensive, as is its’ reputation. But we did the legwork beforehand and had a great experience.
Nice looking trip. I would keep Florence at 3 days but use one of those days to do a trip to Pisa or Siena (both pretty accessible buy bus and train0 or better yet rent a car and go for drive in the Tuscan countryside
Great, thanks for the tip. Do you think two days is enough for Paris?
PS- Where’s the money, Lebowski?!!? Classic!
Two weeks isn’t enough for Paris, but 2 days you can still do a few things…just make a promise to yourself to go to Paris again someday. Has anybody seen where I left my White Russian?
Eiffel Tower, Jim Morrison’s Grave… what else do you recommend? I promise I will go back!
