This trip’s been revised so many times its just easier to leave this blank for now Smile

Anyone have any good tips for finding decent ferry fare from Civitavecchia to Barcelona? or maybe Barcelona > Palma de Mallorca > Valencia?

I’m a little confused about you saying it will cost $1200 to fly home…are you talking round trip? Because that is way too much to pay for a one way ticket. Have you looked into open-jaw roundtrip tickets? You can go onto a site like kayak.com an look into “multi-city flights” into one city from the US and back from another usually for about the same price as a regular roundtrip ticket. I did this recently flying from boston to prague and then venice to boston and it only cost about $600/person roundtrip.

wow I love you. I honestly don’t travel via air enough to be that well versed in airfare stuff, but yes estimations on a flight from Lisbon to the JFK area was about $700 per person and there are two of us going, we’re planning/saving together so the entire cost of the trip is essentially ‘double’. But I love this site, when tickets are available for the period we’re talking about, I will definitely use this option – thanks Smile

hey, if our dates stay the same, we are going to be in Rome/Naples and London at the same time! we should meet up or something.
I wasn’t able to go to europe this summer due to money issues (although it worked out because I got a fellowship to go to Fiji for archaeology) but I have made my mind up that I WILL be going next summer for SURE.

Milan? Why? Big, dirty and expensive and still the most polluted city in Europe

I’m open to other ideas. We had discussed venice perhaps?

Venice is good although it can be expensive, if you limit it to the two day’s it would be a good alternative.

I’m liking the idea of Venice – I saw a very nice place to say there (it is a little more pricey than other places but seems completely worth it). We’re taking a “ferry” from Rome(Civitavecchia) to Barcelona which should also be quite nice (From reviews I’ve read).

I’m getting very excited. Smile

If you’re gonna splurge anywhere, Venice would be the place…Because lodging can be expensive lot of people stay outside venice and come in only for the day. That’s a shame cuz venice takes on a unique character at night

Oh we’re going to be staying in Venice at a B&B I found on this site, I just can’t recall the name of it. Its the most expensive place we’re staying throughout the trip – but I’m totally okay with that, its one night and 2 days so in my opinion its worth it. How many times can you say you stayed in Venice ya know?

People give Venice crap, but I do love it (see my article). Worth a visit and worth a splurge.

One day Venice will be underwater…visit it before you need scuba gear to do so

Hi there — I’m traveling with my boyfriend but we’re more than open to meeting people along the way. Smile

We’re just looking to see what there is to see.
